Gratitude Day One

Today I woke up in good health, in a warm home.  For the former I thank God and for the latter I thank my parents.

It is important to note that had I woken up with a fever and a headache and a sore throat, with the house as cold as an icebox, as happened a month ago, I should still be thankful; for as the Bible says in 1 Thess. 5:18: "In everything give thanks, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.".

As it happens, I was not thankful during that sickness, and more than once wished for the peace of the grave.  I could have been thankful that it was not worse, that I had people looking after me, and that I had a lot of nice tea and soup.  And now I'm well again!  Thank God.
And for all the sick people out there who are not well now and may not get well - we only have a few years in this world before we go to the place where there is no sickness or disease, so all is not hopelessness and gloom.
